The more I research the word "Jehovah" the more I feel that we shouldn't...

As far as "Mischief", I think that is just a grammatical pun, if I say one is a Trinitarian, that does not make you 3 times the arian that Jws are. Regardless of how we translate YHWH in English I would imagine the actual etymology would be the same. "Hovah" of course is anglicized, and not hebrew. The other objection you bring up is who "coined" it, I never got this objection, obviuosly at some point an anglo form of the name would have come about , so the who would not be a decent objection IMO. True people before JWs came on the scene spoke an anglicized dialect,but that would be expected. And I had always heard that it was coined prior to "Luther". But that is a trivial objection on my part :>)

I am open to correction on any of the above.

Looks like you are right.
I am glad we had the opportunity to say what we did while we could.

Such ignorance and arrogance to be proud of distancing yourself from a mod who literally had zero contact, bias or care in the world about the JW faith. Hopefully that will serve as a lesson toward the JW- Ex JW civility problems. Hate to say it, but I think X-Jws are more guilty in this regard. JWs who interrupt are usually just rubes whining about "hate" speech at every turn, often needlessly, and not the source of this problem.

1.)Arrogant to think that everything JW related should be about you and your story, even when totally ignoring the major point of the board. We can call that disresectful too.

2.)Ignorant to think you have done a good thing. PBS and Independent Lens is a respectful and dignified series that has a varied and informative format. People have and are trashing "knocking" before seeing it.. If they think that you went overboard, just learn from it, don't argue with that sentiment, just look at the facts of the situation.

hey everyone,...in your opinion, (1) what scripture or passages in the bible completely go against jdub doctrine?

scriptures that the dubs really can't answer or really can't fit into their equation,...thus, they go unnoticed or avoided.

(2) or,...what scriptural proof should be in the bible to back their doctrinal claims.

Talent-less... Jws always exceed X-Jws in talent. Tis a Scientific fact. Of course it did bring up the talking points, Jws molest children blah-ditty-blah... typical misrepresentation of facts (ie.. lack of blood transfusions do not "cause" deaths, getting shot in the face does..etc..etc..)

My point is, I think, the original Mulberry video had a better voice-over. It was More professional sounding. C+ for effort.

john 1:3 - "3through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

" i honestly can't remember and can't find anything in the pubs that deals with it.

JWs take "all things" "in the beginning" to be referring to the physical creation spoken of at Gen. 1:1, which the angels themselves possibly existed prior to (Job 38:6.) So taking Jesus' role as being intermediate as opposed to being the first cause (as also understood by many Trin scholars, see Daniel Wallace) in this verse would not be troublesome if physical creation itself is what the author is speaking of when he says "all things".

Or if you don't like that explanation, absolute language like "all things" can have exceptions and be a contextual reference to the acts the Father did thru the Son, with the Son being the intermediate. The author of the 4th gospel would obviously assume the Father and Son would be excepted as an obvious fact to the reader. You know, if that was the point he was making.

it seems as if the jw religion in general has much contempt for israel.

correctly me if i'm wrong, but,...in short, the jw religion thinks they have become israel,...."spiritual israel", anyways.

or, in other words, the blessings and promises for israel have been transfered to the wts and it's faithful members.. which brings up an interesting question.

He is equally critical of the NWT here, he argues that "ego eimi" may have theological significance, but at John 8:58 it is really just one of the most basic pron-noun + verb combinations there is, anything else is read into it and is outside the concern of a translator. Not that theology is is outside of concern necessarily, but that here the most straight forward method works fine, so why add to it

Hi Nark, I thnk you are being uncharitable, read the above closer you will see that he is not saying theology is out of his concern, but is pointing out that at John 8:58 that it is not this amazing super-title at every step necessarily. You might see this point better if you give us your translation of John 14:9. Since the standard translation is ungrammatical (and it is) why let a debate-able theology be the final guide in your translation when it only leads to bad english?

Basically, my question, why is it a dumb point to make in reference to john 8:58, but not John 14:9?
